Director Connie Macatuno’s latest film, Malaya, produced by Sisu Productions, Dreamscape Entertainment and ABS-CBN started its production overseas in Italy way back November 2019. Filmed in the quaint southern city of Bari, Malaya does not only show you the scenic places where Iago and Malaya explore and unfold the story but rather it also highlights the ambience and nature of what Italy sounds, making it a very immersive experience for viewers.

The audio was post-processed by Wildsound Studios specifically, Mike Idioma who was also the assigned field sound recordist during production. However because of COVID-19 restrictions, instead of it being mixed at the studios at Wildsound, it was finished in the confines of Mike’s own home studio. Surrounded by his three dogs and assisted by his daughter, Andrea, Malaya’s audio is delivered the same quality as if done in the head studio. Malaya’s main characters weren’t the only ones who took a journey, but its audio as well. From the city of Bari, Italy to a house in Mandaluyong, Manila- who would’ve thought?

Malaya is now streaming worldwide on iWant!
